Phaedra Parks has had quite the year and after months of keeping quiet decided it was time to tell her side of the story. Sitting down with Ellen DeGeneres (yes Ellen..sorry Andy!) she filled viewers in about what really happened with Apollo and who the mysterious Mr. Chocolate is!One of the biggest speculations of her to-be ex-husband Apollo Nida’s fraud charges was how much Phaedra knew about it. Since day one Phaedra has stood her ground saying she had NO clue what her husband was up to and her response to Ellen was no different.
I work, I just got my fifth college degree — I’m pretty much an overachiever. I have two very small children. I just stopped breastfeeding three months ago. So, I didn’t have any idea this was going on until he called me and he said ‘I’ve been arrested and I’m having this problem, but it’s not true.
After being shocked with the news Phaedra went into action hiring him the best lawyers and helping him anyway she could.
I went out of my way to get him the best attorneys, the best investigators, and to do everything I could. I’m an attorney myself and so I wanted him to have the best so we could fight this together, but obviously it did not turn out like that.
After all was said and done however Apollo was eventually sentenced to 8 years in prison for his crimes. Since then Phaedra has held off speaking out publicly about Apollo in order to protect her children.
It is extremely hard. My heart aches for my two sons because they are the heart and soul of who I am. That’s the best thing we ever did together. We have these great kids. I never wanted to do anything to diminish his character in public. But we’ve had some times where he’s done things that weren’t so cool….weren’t so nice.
Phaedra also spoke about the upcoming season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, even making a point to bring up everyone’s burning question – who is Mr. Chocolate and did she really ahve an affair with him?!
I think it’s totally absurd to think that I cheated. They’re saying that I had an affair with a man from Africa named Chocolate. Now, everybody knows that I do love a Snickers bar every once in a while, but it’s definitely not a man from Africa that I’ve ever had an affair with. It’s just absurd.
