Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice have a difficult few days ahead of them. Both Teresa and Joe have admitted to hiding assets and submitting fake loan applications to get $5 million in mortgage loans — are getting sentenced tomorrow and both of them could serve some prison time.
Their crisis manager, Wendy Feldman, spoke out to North Jersey, saying the couple is very scared.
“They know a worst case, but don’t know what’s going to happen, and it’s terrifying and they’re scared.”
Criminal law professor, Stuart P. Green, revealed what he predicts will happen.
“This is an example of a tied plea. It’s typically done with married couples where one is more culpable than the other. Even though it was non-violent conduct, it’s a serious fraud involving a significant amount of money with multiple counts including covering up false statements to the government. There was a time when white collar criminals would rarely see the inside of a prison, but the sentencing guidelines have been revised. White collar criminals today are routinely sentenced to significant prison time for serious frauds and other violations.”
Very scary. I wish the best for the couple for the sake of their girls. Thoughts?
